A sport-utility vehicle or SUV is a car known for its capability to drive in bad roads as opposed to other cars that have the same capacity. A sport-utility car has an exterior similar to a minivan but it has a little less space inside; they usually have four doors (at first SUVs only had two doors.) Nowadays there is only one maker that has a SUV of two doors and that's Jeep with its Jeep Wrangler.
Sport-utility vehicles became very popular in the United States between the 90's and the early 2000s. Since the prices of oil have risen and the economy is not in its best moment, people seem to prefer other vehicle options. Despite all the criticism against this type of car, its users still have the perception that this vehicle is safer than others; such perception can be dangerous if the user do not take the same precautions that are taken in other types of cars.
